For me, I have learned - especially through Al-Anon - that control is an addition I have had. One which I believe, if worked carefully, can protect me and the ones I love from pain and suffering. This is certainly an illusion. In reality, the addiction has caused me much pain and suffering and usually those around me too. It is a daily task to recognize this and redirect my thinking.
